Prayer, A Quiet Place

Make In My Heart A Quiet Place, John Oxenham

Mid all the traffic of the ways-
Turmoils without, within-
Make in my heart a quiet place,
And come and dwell therein:

A little shrine of quietness,
All sacred to Thyself,
Where Thou shalt all my soul possess,
And I may find myself;

A little shelter from life's stress,
Where I may lay me prone,
And bare my soul in loneliness,
And know as I am known;

A little place of mystic grace,
Of self and sin swept bare,
Where I may look upon Thy face,
And talk with Thee in prayer.

Commentary:
I like this because it reminds me how practicing one small thing can turn out to be something unimaginable with time.

Inside, sheltered from,
The cold and the rain.
Looking out at,
The rain fall,
Slanted

Wondering how,
Would it look
If it were,
Snow.

Imagining,
Snow's feeling,
Soft.
Season of Winter.

Christmas,
Pulled into the present,
With the arrival of
My hot cup of tea.

Irish Angel Poem

A friend of mine shared this poem with me and I liked it so much I wanted to share the poem here on my blog. I like the sound aid and the visual aid that go with the poem.

Frank Owen is absolutely amazing. I don't think I've been moved so much by poetry in the last 10 years! Although, I have been living under a rock (at least under the poetry rock).

One Moment, forever.
That's it.
That is all.
Once the moment passes,
It is gone,
Forever,
Never the same moment.
The anticipation of a moment...
Memories hopefully never forgotten.
One life, many moments.

To capture every moment?
Make every moment
Like slow motion.
To be in what is a moment,
Taste it, smell it, see it, feel it, hear it,

Hold it.

Smile and snap!
Captured?
One Moment,
One time,
One life,
One chance.
That's it.
That is all.

Licking with Love


Most anyone who knows me knows that I have a special love for dogs. I love dog energy. I even offer a service with my friend that we call "Mobile Reiki 4 Dogs". It is reiki delivered to dogs in the comfort of their own home. Dogs are great teachers of mine. I co-care two beautiful dogs with my mother. One is an angel(the one with the bow) and the other is a beloved lil she-devil. Along with my love for dogs, I also love poetry. Inspired by my two best friends, I wrote this poem.

"A Good Lickin'"

A dog's licks are Love,
In one lick,
Infinite,
Non-verbal communication.
Hardly ever is it,
Just one lick.
It's one lick,
Two lick,
Three lick more,
And more and more!
It's how it is,
With them dogs.
We work for them,
We feed them,
Exercise them,
Discipline them,
And love them...
Among other things.
We work for licks.
Though, it doesn't feel like work.
In fact,
Many of us,
Would work for them,
For free!
For Nothin',
No licks at all.
But if licks were paper money?
We'd be rich.
Maybe even a little greedy,
"Lick meee! Lick me moore!"
Paper money aside,
Licks of a dog,
Definitely
Make us rich,
Boy do they ever pay off!
Don't they?
